<note>This Second volume of A Handbook of Christian Social Ethics deals with the structure of human society from its smallest unit, the family, through the larger groupings and the State, to the international community of nations. As in the first volume, Man in Society, the question-and-answer from has been used. All questions from the encyclicals and other papal documents and explanations and concrete examples are added to each answer. While the first volume treated of man in society and of the basic problems of human society, The Structure of the Social Order considers the social and legal aspects of the family, its elementary nature and function, divorce, education and schooling, the human right to life and derived rights, the functions and limits of State powers, these are among the burning problems of modern society and they are discussed here in the light of Christian moral teaching. A Handbook of Christian Social Ethics has already had a marked impact on the clarification of Catholic social morality in Europe and this new translation promises the same fascination to all those interested an the applications of a distinctly Christian social philosophy.</note>
