The opening chapter, on "The Changing Church," seeks on the one hand to warn against the hazards of naive progressivism, and on the other hand to search out effecient neoteric methods of effecting change. This is followed by two essays on the scope and direction of future dialogue between the Church and secular organizations, and on the qualifications of the Church in the public social sphere. The last part of the book is a kind of preview of the post-conciliar epoch, an attempt to formulate, from among the work of the Council, those truths which will provide especial sustenance for the Christian of tomorrow.
