 <note>Appraising Educational Research is a collection and analysis of eight educational research papers ranging from easy to somewhat difficult. Sophisticated statistical analyses are avoided and no prior special training in research methods is needed to understand the articles. The reader is asked to read the research article, to read the questions posed by the critics, to write out answers to the questions, and then to compare the answers given with those provided by the authors. In compiling this book large sums were developing, field testing, and revising the material, based on the comments of over 800 students in 27 colleges and universities, as well as selected scholars and research investigators.  This book attempts to sharpen skill of research criticism as a step toward improving research itself.</note>
