<note>“Models of Teaching was written from our conviction that, despite the fearsome troubles besetting education., there presently exists a really delightful and vigorous array of approaches to teaching that can be used to transform the world of schools if only we will employ them. The purpose of this book is to identify for the teacher and curriculum maker a range of models of teaching – approaches to creating environments for learning – and a way of thinking that can be used to analyze these approaches, compare and contrast them, and decide what educational purposes they can serve.” – from the authors’ preface.
The new edition of Models of Teaching updates the original material to reflect cultural changes, and includes several new models of teaching. All models have been completely restructured and augmented. For example, instead of one model concerning behavioral approaches, five distinct models have been developed from the related principles and concepts. Also, a model for the improvement of money has been added.
Models of Teaching guides intelligent use of the dynamic variety of teaching approaches. Each model is introduced by a clear fictional narrative of a teacher using the strategy with her students. These models offer the means of stimulating maximum growth and attainment in every classroom, and show you how to guide thinking, creativity, social behavior, and attain objectives.</note>
