This dictionary aims at providing the foreign student of English with a convenient means of reference by which to learn or to check contemporary idiomatic usage. Some ‘old favourites’ have fallen out of use and are excluded; some very recent acquisitions are introduced and particular emphasis is laid on short syntactical idioms from which good spoken English is made.
