Matteo Ricci (1552 – 1610), an Italian missionary , was the first foreigner who translated the Four Confucian Classics into Latin and introduced them to Europe . He lived in China for 28 years, and tried his best to blend into the Chinese society by speaking, writing and dressing in Chinese ways. He published over a dozen books in Chinese, in Which he expressed his best wishes to bridge the East and the West and Chinese culture and European culture.
